At The Layers of Me Therapy, PLLC, I guide individuals on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Each person holds many layers: experiences, emotions, and identities that shape who they are. Through compassionate, personalized care, we help clients uncover their authentic selves and build tools to live with clarity, purpose, and resilience.
About Me
Hi, I’m Christian Knighten, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.A. in Psychology from Grand Valley State University.
For over 8 years, I’ve served as a school social worker in Chicago, supporting children, teens, and families through life’s transitions. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, take a breath, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that deserve care and compassion.
Healing isn’t about “fixing” who you are — it’s about embracing your story.
I offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel seen, understood, and equipped to navigate life’s challenges.
My Approach
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. In therapy, we listen and we don’t judge. I want our time together to feel like a safe space. Somewhere you can laugh, cry, vent, and show up exactly as you are. While I use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, my focus is always on you, not the technique.
Together, we’ll explore what’s on your heart, build tools that support your growth, and work toward solutions that feel real and sustainable for your life.
